The partnership between Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali and ICCROM represents a fundamental pillar in initiatives aimed at training and promotion of conservation and management models and practices for cultural heritage at international level. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in May 2023 marked the official beginning of Undertaking Business in Culture, an ambitious and innovative project directed at young entrepreneurs from 12 African countries and Italy in the framework of ICCROM flagship programme Youth.Heritage.Africa. The aim of the initiative is to promote youth entrepreneurship in the cultural sector by equipping participants with the skills and tools necessary to manage and promote cultural enterprises sustainably. In this framework, the event Fostering Italy-Africa Relations: Enhancing Business and Cultural Exchange, hosted by Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali and ICCROM, serves as a pivotal platform for cultivating deeper connections and collaborations between Italy and African countries.

Forecasting and measuring the different kinds of costs and finding ways to cover the financial needs is pivotal in developing a business idea. A crucial step relates to understanding issues regarding the setting up phase (establishing a new entity, opening a new organization, etc.) and running current operations. The module will comprise basics in cost analysis and budgeting and elements of fundraising strategies for art and culture, including crowdfunding and community support for heritage rehabilitation and restoration.

The instructors selected for this module are prof. Luca Zan and Ms. Avril Joffe.
